Manufacturing process of industrial films

The manufacturing process of industrial films can be broadly classified into six steps: Material preparation, Film extrusion, Coating and laminating, Die cutting and slitting, Packaging and finishing. In the material preparation step, the polymer resins are melted and mixed in the desired proportions. The molten resin is then passed through a die to form a thin film which is cooled and solidified on contact with air.

In the film extrusion step, the solidified film is extruded through a series of interconnected dies that give it its desired thickness and width. The thickness of the film can range from a few micrometers to several millimeters. In the coating and laminating step, one or more coatings or adhesives are applied to one or both sides of the film.

Properties of industrial films

The properties of industrial films vary depending on the resin type. For example, BOPA is a clear film with high tensile strength and good optical properties. Polyamide is a tough film with good abrasion resistance. BOPET has good clarity and gloss, as well as high tensile strength and tear resistance. PP is a flexible film with high impact resistance. CPP is a heat sealable film with good gas barrier properties, while HDPE is a strong and durable film with excellent water barrier properties.

Advantages and disadvantages of industrial films

Each type of industrial film has its own unique advantages and disadvantages. For example, BOPA polyamide is strong and durable but can be expensive; HDPE is affordable but not very durable; LDPE is affordable and durable but not very strong.
